I just wanted to preference this by saying that I understand that this short might mean a lot to a lot of people ina special way or hold a special place in your heart in some significant way, that being said I am reviewing it as a short film and not the subject matter which the subject matter is handled maturely and smartly so here is the rest of what I had to say.
what I get from this is pretty cool, especially looking at that poster, the colors are so stark I wish the poster had the girl in blue like she was in the short that would have brought it full circle I think.
grief is a thing that never goes away even after some time it's easy to say it does and forget what happened happened, I do think it's nice and I guess it's only a sense I might get but that the parents are opening dialogue but not everything seems to be pretty which is presented across the short, it's hard to talk about what happened harder to process saying it can make it so real, which is why by the end of the short I like that it doesn't seem like everything is happy go lucky or at least that is the sense that I get from it,
it was a good short solid, I didn't love it but the animation the way it was presented, the animation style, and the story are all more than well done.

---------------------------
- Right off the back I love the art style, the zoom-in on the houses was great.
- I like that it was almost stop motion a bit, that it’s not 100 percent fluid
- It was cool to see the stairs from behind here while she was walking.
- The color palette is nice, obviously more impactful to take away colors, presenting them in a black and white palette is so overplayed but I think it works particularly well here considering that these parents are going through grief which is an emotion that makes you feel like the world is colorless, which makes seeing the American flag presented in color so stark and real I think it worked well in both sense they were going for both in the emotional remember there daughter way and the darkly real to life way that the American flag had presented to us.
- The cat scene is funny and cute, cats are cute.
