Wow this movie was really good I liked it a lot crazy wild fun time is my way to explain it. It’s campy but in a good way it’s colorful and vibrant and looks amazing it’s costume and set design are pretty stellar, the songs are chosen pretty perfectly in each place the remixes they do are really well done, my only problem is with the sound mixing in a few spots which seemed like it was mixed weird weather on purpose or not I’m not sure but I did watch this with headphones and not in a surround sound room so that could be the issue, as well as I had a few spots where the pacing felt just a tad slow but never too slow other than that the writing is pretty stellar.
I really really wish when it was out in theaters for the short time where I was that I saw it in theaters for like 2 1/2 weeks but I was super busy and very broke. Glad I got to see it now definitely worth a watch if you haven’t seen it. it’s is very fun I say again.
It covers some pretty cool themes under all this with death, being forgotten, coming of age, tragedy in love (kind of).
It’s funny too lots of good jokes. Anyway that’s it for the review thanks for reading if you did.

Notes below
————
- the opening titles are really cool and animated really well.
- I love the vibrant colors and atmosphere it’s so pretty to look at
- the black and white scene near the beginning was pretty cool.
- the runny mascara looks great, great makeup and hairstyle it contrast her outfit so well.
- it’s weird seeing the moon from a trip to the moon in modern cinema but very cool to see him kind of plastered all over the film.
- obviously one o the key themes is not being forgotten, she is worried to some degree she will is forgotten or overlooked and maybe to a much larger degree she thinks her mom has been forgotten?
- I love the contrast of everyone talking very upbeat and overly excited vs her stark tone.
The acting that Kathryn Newton is doing is really great! She is killing it.
- “Dale you need to stop smashing grape nuts and be a father right now.”
- the costumes looks great in this movie!
- the set dec as well the colors pop and are vibrant I love it.
- the scene where she is crawling on the roof is pretty funny, a cool wide shot behind the neighbors would have been cool to hang on while all this action was happening but I can understand why we cut to a closer shot.
- the dress up scene is cool I think he should have rocked the pink outfit it was sick.
- the push zoom in the dining room when she was trying the food was very nicely done, skillfully to the edit.
- the twirl was cute.
- the sound mixing in the piano scene felt a little off but I think it was intentional.
- I got the raspy low grumble principle voice coming through a speaker
- and they lived happily ever after on the moon.
- the ending is pretty good and makes sense for what they were going for I thought we were going to get a twist by figuring out that Michael was the person who murder her mom or something but I was waaaay off from where we were going. All in all it’s a really strong ending.
- and then.. fuddruckers
