Civil War (2024)
★★★½

I don't know how to feel about this one, I have a lot of thoughts I thought it was good for the most part, there are some questionable choices that I am still thinking about and will probably be thinking about for the next day and change, I don't know if I liked them or if I hated them but one thing is for sure, the sound design in this film is really good, the cinematography looks really great specifically the lighting in the film it looks really great and i really enjoyed the editing in the film.
I liked Kirsten Dunst in this role, i feel like she was doing a pretty good job in the film, along with her counter part Cailee Spaeny who was pretty great in this film, I also thought that Wagner Moura was doing some great acting in some scenes as well, I am not sure how i feel about there characters they don't really have scenes or places where they discuss who they are and what they do, why they do it so you kind of have to infer a lot from the film, this one is going to stick with me as I try and piece it together in my head.
my one nitpick i can say for sure is that it felt a little slow in the end of act two beginning of act three, and that choice to kill of Lee like that I am not sure how I feel about that one, I know it circles back and loops thematically but I don't know, that's where this one leaves me mostly.
notes below
-----------------------
- my bud Nick Offerman is setting a cool tone for the film.
- the sound design on the explosion was very cool.
- to have a silence this long is really confident and really bold, love this choice.
-some cool set design; that car wash, the rust and run down nature, looked very cool, the ruined and dilapidated nature of the cars on the high way, the partly burned builds, very impressive set work here.
- the distant gun fire when she is in the car is very nice sound design.
- that yellow light from the parking lot is nice.
- I like this score that plays when they are all sleeping next to the car, the trilling of it is nice, the guitar that plays here nice.
- the framing of her next to the colors was really cool.
- Kirsten Dunst is doing some really good acting here.
- that was cool, I wish that we spent a little more time outside, so when that was revealed we really do feel like we had been being watched, like any wrong step we'd get shot.
- the carnival music playing during that shoot out was pretty cool choice.
- I like how the information of the car following them was presented, the camera hung back.
- the red sunglasses look very cool.
- this scene with Jesse Plemons is pretty tense, great writing here, great acting. best scene in the movie, A+
- gorgeous imagery in the fire, you can tell that the shot of them driving was a built set.
- I do like the choice to have all the sound pop out when they take a picture, it interrupts the scene.
- I love the distorted field of view that appears every once in a while, (that one shot from below on Lee, there is one in the car) a few other times where the camera goes all distorted and the colors appear out of bounds or glitchy I don't know what it is called.
